Learning as the First Step to Teaching

At DPS Surajkund, we firmly believe that learning is the foundation of effective teaching. A teacher’s role extends far beyond delivering lessons—it is a continuous journey of reflection, growth, and evolution.

In alignment with this philosophy, the school recently conducted a workshop on Notebook Marking, recognizing it as one of the most vital tools for providing meaningful feedback. The session, led by Headmistress Ms. Supriya Bakshi, emphasized that notebook correction should not be seen as a routine exercise but as a powerful instrument of formative assessment.

Teachers were encouraged to approach notebook marking as a dialogue between teacher and learner, where every remark, suggestion, or note of encouragement serves as constructive feedback. Such feedback not only guides children in identifying areas for improvement but also helps them strengthen concepts, build confidence, and take ownership of their learning.

The workshop further explored strategies to enrich feedback, making it more purposeful and growth-oriented. By adopting these practices, teachers ensure that every correction becomes a step forward in the learner’s academic journey.

Through initiatives that combine professional development with thoughtful assessment practices, DPS Surajkund continues to foster a vibrant learning environment—one where both teachers and students evolve together, upholding the school’s commitment to excellence.

The adage "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy" reflects our belief in the essential balance between academics and sports to unlock a child's full potential. This equilibrium not only fosters gross motor skills but also cultivates valuable personal attributes like teamwork, leadership, dedication, discipline, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Sports, we believe, imparts crucial life lessons that academics alone cannot provide. Our Physical Education program is meticulously designed to support a child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. It encourages an appreciation for movement and the body's creative expression, fostering a positive attitude towards an active and healthy lifestyle. In the Foundation years, students engage in the Fundamental Skills Program, which teaches balancing, running, jumping, catching, and throwing while promoting hand-eye coordination through enjoyable team-building games.
