At DPS Surajkund, we understand the importance of creating a warm and nurturing environment for our young learners. We recently held an interactive training program on pastoral care to ensure our teachers are equipped with the best practices to support our student’s overall well-being. This session focused on helping our teachers understand the meaning and significance of pastoral care in the context of our school.

Pastoral care is about looking after the emotional, social, and personal needs of our students. It ensures that children feel safe, happy, and supported at school. During the training, our teachers learned how to integrate pastoral care into their daily interactions with students, creating a caring and supportive atmosphere in the classroom.

 Key Learnings from the Session:

What is Pastoral Care?

  • Teachers learned the importance of making children feel valued, heard, and cared for.
  • Emphasis on creating a loving and safe environment where every child feels included.

Building Strong Relationships:

  • Techniques for developing trusting and positive relationships with young children.
  • Ways to show empathy and understanding to help children feel secure.

Recognizing Children’s Needs:

  • Identifying signs when a child might be upset, anxious, or facing challenges.
  • Strategies to provide comfort and reassurance to children needing extra support.

Teamwork:

  • Importance of collaboration between teachers, parents, and the school.
  • Sharing ideas and resources to ensure consistent care and attention for every child.

Creating a Positive Environment:

  • Activities and routines that promote happiness and emotional well-being in the classroom.
  • Engaging ways to teach children about kindness, sharing, and friendship.

Continuous Learning:

  • Encouraging teachers to continually improve their pastoral care skills.
  • Emphasizing self-care for teachers to ensure they can be their best for the children.

The pastoral care training program at DPS Surajkund provided our teachers with valuable insights and skills. By focusing on the emotional and social needs of our students, we are dedicated to creating a loving and supportive school environment where children can thrive and succeed in all areas of their development.

The adage "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy" reflects our belief in the essential balance between academics and sports to unlock a child's full potential. This equilibrium not only fosters gross motor skills but also cultivates valuable personal attributes like teamwork, leadership, dedication, discipline, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Sports, we believe, imparts crucial life lessons that academics alone cannot provide. Our Physical Education program is meticulously designed to support a child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. It encourages an appreciation for movement and the body's creative expression, fostering a positive attitude towards an active and healthy lifestyle. In the Foundation years, students engage in the Fundamental Skills Program, which teaches balancing, running, jumping, catching, and throwing while promoting hand-eye coordination through enjoyable team-building games.
