“Wherever there is a celebration of harvest, there is gratitude in the heart – for the land gives, and the soul receives.”

Baisakhi, Punjab’s vibrant harvest festival, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy by our Dipsites at DPS Surajkund on Monday, April 13, 2026. The celebration took place in the Rangmanch area of our school premises. It aimed to raise students’ awareness of the cultural and historical significance of this loved festival- a day that marks the season’s first harvest and holds deep importance in Sikh history.

The celebration featured a vibrant cultural and traditional setup inspired by a Punjab village. The stage area was beautifully transformed to reflect the rustic charm and warmth of rural Punjab, immersing students in an authentic festive atmosphere. The music, colourful decorations, and traditional costumes together created a truly memorable experience.

The celebration began with teachers presenting a brief yet insightful introduction about Baisakhi, shedding light on its significance as a harvest festival and its deep-rooted importance in Sikh history. This set the tone for a day filled with culture, learning, and festive cheer.

The highlight of the event was an energetic Bhangra performance by students dressed in vibrant traditional Punjabi attire. Their lively moves filled the atmosphere with excitement, while the colourful costumes and foot-tapping music added immense charm and warmth to the celebration.

A special corner, Punjab Ki Shaan, showcased a display of food crops—wheat, rice, and maize—helping students understand and appreciate the significance of agriculture and the abundance the harvest season brings.

Adding a refreshing twist to the festivities was Pind Di Shuddh Lassi, where each student also prepared lassi in their classroom and savoured it at this dedicated corner—truly capturing the spirit and flavour of Baisakhi in every sip!

The Khushiyon Ki Mehndi corner was a favourite among the girls, who joyfully adorned their palms with beautiful mehndi designs, celebrating tradition with creativity and enthusiasm.

At the Punjab Da Swad food stall, the aroma of freshly made makki ki roti prepared on a traditional chulha by didi filled the air. Students relished the authentic Punjabi flavours, making it a truly delicious and heartwarming experience.

To round off the celebrations, students also took part in age-appropriate craft activities inspired by the festival. These hands-on activities made the learning experience both engaging and deeply memorable, allowing every child to connect with the rich traditions of Baisakhi in a fun and creative way.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt message of unity, gratitude, and happiness. It was a joyful and deeply educational experience for all students, helping them understand and appreciate India’s rich cultural heritage. The Baisakhi celebration was a grand success, cherished and enjoyed by every student, teacher, and staff member present.

The adage "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy" reflects our belief in the essential balance between academics and sports to unlock a child's full potential. This equilibrium not only fosters gross motor skills but also cultivates valuable personal attributes like teamwork, leadership, dedication, discipline, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Sports, we believe, imparts crucial life lessons that academics alone cannot provide. Our Physical Education program is meticulously designed to support a child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. It encourages an appreciation for movement and the body's creative expression, fostering a positive attitude towards an active and healthy lifestyle. In the Foundation years, students engage in the Fundamental Skills Program, which teaches balancing, running, jumping, catching, and throwing while promoting hand-eye coordination through enjoyable team-building games.
