“Unity in Diversity is not just a slogan, but the soul of India.”

Learning about the nation becomes truly meaningful when children experience its diversity, values, and democratic spirit through participation and celebration. At DPS Surajkund, we believe in nurturing responsible citizens by helping young learners connect with the essence of India—its culture, unity, and constitutional values.

To commemorate Republic Day, a vibrant and enriching celebration titled “My India, My Pride” was organised for students from Balvatika III to Grade II. Students learned about the diversity in our country through a week-long learning experience and showcased their learning in a presentation. The celebration aimed to foster national pride, cultural awareness, and respect for India’s rich heritage while helping children understand the significance of the Constitution of India.

The day began on a patriotic note with the morning prayer, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the celebration. This was followed by a colourful state representation activity, where students showcased the beauty of India’s diversity.

  • Balvatika III proudly represented Punjab, highlighting its lively festivals, traditional food, vibrant attire, and energetic folk culture.
  • Grade I took the audience on a cultural journey to Rajasthan, presenting its majestic landmarks, colourful costumes, traditional dances, and royal heritage.
  • Grade II beautifully represented Kerala, showcasing its unique festivals, classical dance forms, traditional cuisine, and serene cultural identity.

Dressed in traditional attire from different states, students confidently presented well-prepared lines, showcasing strong communication skills and an appreciation of India’s unity in diversity. Classroom activities throughout the week deepened their understanding of our country and the Constitution in age-appropriate activities. The programme concluded with the National Anthem and an inspiring address by the Headmistress, reinforcing unity, constitutional ideals, and love for the nation, making the celebration a meaningful learning experience for all.

The adage "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy" reflects our belief in the essential balance between academics and sports to unlock a child's full potential. This equilibrium not only fosters gross motor skills but also cultivates valuable personal attributes like teamwork, leadership, dedication, discipline, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Sports, we believe, imparts crucial life lessons that academics alone cannot provide. Our Physical Education program is meticulously designed to support a child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. It encourages an appreciation for movement and the body's creative expression, fostering a positive attitude towards an active and healthy lifestyle. In the Foundation years, students engage in the Fundamental Skills Program, which teaches balancing, running, jumping, catching, and throwing while promoting hand-eye coordination through enjoyable team-building games.
