At DPS Surajkund, we not only strive to nurture academic excellence but also a deep understanding of our cultural heritage and values. This Dussehra, we brought the timeless lessons of the Ramayana to life with engaging and educational activities that blended learning with tradition.
The highlight of our celebrations was a captivating Ramleela performance by our teachers, who portrayed iconic characters from the Ramayana. Our students watched in awe as the epic tale of good versus evil unfolded before their eyes. Through this performance, our students not only enjoyed a spectacular day of learning but also connected with the core values of Dussehra: the triumph of good over evil, the importance of righteous actions. They learned how Ravan, despite his intelligence and might, fell victim to his bad choices and negative intentions, emphasizing the importance of making wise decisions. This perspective helps them understand the importance of making wise decisions, embracing humility, and letting go of negative habits in their own lives.
Our celebrations didn’t end with the Ramleela performance. Students participated in a fun-filled Ravan-making activity, using cut-and-paste techniques to craft their own Ravan effigies. This creative exercise reinforced the message of burning away negativity, just as Ravan is symbolically burned during Dussehra to rid ourselves of evil.
The children had a blast constructing their Ravan effigy, decorating it with vibrant colours, and adding personal touches. As the day drew to a close, the effigies were proudly displayed, symbolizing the children’s understanding of the festival’s deeper meaning: the destruction of inner demons and the triumph of good intentions.
Dussehra at DPS Surajkund was not just a celebration but a journey through our cultural roots, filled with learning, creativity, and reflection. We celebrated the victory of goodness in our hearts.
Here’s to a Dussehra full of lessons, joy, and the burning away of negativity, making way for kindness, growth, and positive change!
