“What the hand does, the mind remembers.” – Maria Montessori

At DPS Surajkund, our Montessori learners embarked on a joyful journey of discovery through the theme “My Farmer’s Market.” The project was designed to immerse children in hands-on experiences that nurtured their understanding of the world around them. Through this theme, children explored the textures, colours, tastes, and health benefits of various fruits and vegetables while learning the importance of healthy eating and the difference between healthy and junk food. The project beautifully integrated learning across subjects like sports, art, pottery, and music, giving children opportunities to express their creativity in multiple ways. They created vibrant fruit and vegetable crafts, shaped delightful clay models, and sang cheerful songs related to the theme. Our little explorers even sowed seeds and observed the fascinating process of plant growth, strengthening their connection with nature.

Our little learners also had a joyful visit to the local Farmer’s Market as part of the theme. They explored a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, learning their names, colours, and shapes. The toddlers also touched, smelled, and observed how vegetables are weighed and sold. They interacted warmly with the farmers and vendors, practicing polite words like “hello,” “please,” and “thank you.” It was a day full of fun, learning, and happy smiles!

The highlight of the annual project was the PBL Presentation Day, where our young Dipsites confidently showcased their learning through presentations and Rhymes. Their enthusiasm and confidence reflected their deep understanding and joy in learning.

“My Farmer’s Market” project beautifully blended learning, creativity, and curiosity, offering our young learners a true taste of experiential education where every touch, sight, and sound became a meaningful part of their learning journey.

The adage "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy" reflects our belief in the essential balance between academics and sports to unlock a child's full potential. This equilibrium not only fosters gross motor skills but also cultivates valuable personal attributes like teamwork, leadership, dedication, discipline, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Sports, we believe, imparts crucial life lessons that academics alone cannot provide. Our Physical Education program is meticulously designed to support a child's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth. It encourages an appreciation for movement and the body's creative expression, fostering a positive attitude towards an active and healthy lifestyle. In the Foundation years, students engage in the Fundamental Skills Program, which teaches balancing, running, jumping, catching, and throwing while promoting hand-eye coordination through enjoyable team-building games.
