Our school embraces the idea that learning extends beyond traditional classroom settings. By integrating experiential learning into our curriculum, we venture beyond the confines of four walls, providing our students with real-life educational experiences. Aligned with our current theme, our students enjoyed immersive, hands-on learning experience at Farmus Farms where they learnt about farm animals and the seasonal fruits and the vegetables grown at the farm. These experiences foster a profound comprehension of the world around them, shaping them into empathetic leaders of tomorrow.
To generate excitement among the students, a pre-trip activity was conducted in each grade. This activity involved a presentation discussing the farm, its activities, and what the students could expect during their visit.
At the farm, our little Dipsites gained insights into the seasonal vegetables and fruits while getting first-hand experience of plucking the vegetables. Additionally, students had the chance to feed farm animals including goats, horses, sheep, and rabbits, offering them a first-hand experience in animal care.
Following the activities, a nutritious farm grown meal was provided to the students, after which they embarked on a tractor ride, an experience that left them captivated. They also had the chance to take home the vegetables they harvested, further reinforcing their connection to the farming process. The trip was meticulously designed to foster 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration among the students.
A reflective post trip activity was also conducted across all grades.
Overall, the trip not only enriched the students’ academic knowledge but also instilled positive values and attitudes.
