DPS Surajkund recently celebrated Friendship Day with a series of heartwarming and creative activities designed to highlight the value of friendship. The day began with a heartwarming discussion about the meaning and importance of friendship, and was filled with joy and camaraderie as the children engaged in various crafts and listened to an engaging story about friendship. The celebration began with the Friendship Band Making activity. This hands-on craft not only allowed them to express their creativity but also emphasized the importance of giving and sharing. The children were excited to exchange the friendship bands they made, symbolizing the bonds they shared with their classmates. Next, the children indulged in a Hand Painting Activity. They dipped their hands in paint and made handprints on paper. These handprints were then assembled into the shape of a heart with a special message in the center: “Friends at school are big and small. Friends at school are the best of all.” This collaborative project fostered a sense of unity and teamwork, and the resulting artwork was a beautiful representation of the bonds of friendships within the class. Dipsites participated in the Friendship Web activity, gathered in a large circle, each student took turns passing a ball of yarn to a classmate while saying their friend’s name. As the yarn was tossed, it created a beautiful web, symbolizing the intricate and supportive network of friendships within our school community. Students also ventured outside to connect with nature. Embracing the natural world as a friend, they engaged in activities that fostered a sense of harmony and respect for their environment. The celebration concluded with the presentation of an abridged version of the story titled” Elvis’ Big Adventure” by David A. Miller, Phillip Ashby, and Jade Maitre. This story is centered on a character named Elvis and his adventures in finding friends, highlighting the themes of friendship, support, and kindness. The children were captivated by the story, which reinforced the day’s lessons about the importance of having and being good friends. Throughout the celebration, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, smiles, and a sense of togetherness. The activities not only provided fun and engagement but also imparted valuable lessons about friendship and the joy of having friends.
