DPS Surajkund commemorated National Mathematics Day with great enthusiasm to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Mr. Srinivasa Ramanujan. The celebration for students from Balvatika III to Grade II was thoughtfully designed to align with NEP 2020’s foundational learning principles, emphasizing experiential, play-based, and hands-on activities.
The day focused on fostering mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and spatial awareness rather than mere calculation. Classrooms were abuzz with excitement as students engaged in number games, shape recognition, counting exercises, puzzles, and sorting activities. Specially designed learning corners and movement-based challenges allowed children to explore numbers, patterns, and shapes in an enjoyable and meaningful way, catering to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners.
Through hands-on games and tasks, students discovered that mathematics is an integral part of everyday life. The activities encouraged curiosity, confidence, and a positive attitude towards learning, helping young learners build a strong foundation in numeracy while nurturing a love for mathematics.
The celebration was not only educational but also joyful, providing a refreshing break from routine lessons and reinforcing the idea that math can be fun, creative, and engaging. It was a delightful experience for our little Dipsites, inspiring them to think logically and explore the magical world of numbers
